Fuel cells to provide electricity to Freedom Tower

The landmark Freedom Tower and three other buildings set to rise on the World Trade Center site will be powered, in part, by one of the world's largest installations of fuel cells. The 12 cells provided by UTC Power will produce 4.8 megawatts of electricity -- enough to light up 4,800 homes. UTC says the cells do not contribute to air pollution and reduce the need to upgrade the electric infrastructure at the huge construction site.
