Massachusetts Senate approves bill to fund life sciences

The Massachusetts Senate on Thursday voted 31-7 in favor of Gov. Deval Patrick's bill funding life sciences. Lawmakers who support the $1 billion plan said it would shore up the state's economy and encourage the development of life-saving therapies. Patrick expects to sign the legislation Monday, his spokeswoman said.
