Pfizer to bid against Daiichi for Ranbaxy, sources say

Pfizer may make a hostile offer to acquire Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd., competing against Daiichi Sankyo Co., which has agreed to pay as much as $4.6 billion for the Indian generic-drug maker, sources say. Pfizer's India unit refused to comment. A spokesman for Ranbaxy, however, said the Daiichi takeover "is binding and sealed."
