Hybrid imaging improves diagnosis of diabetic foot infection

Researchers reported at the SNMMI Annual Meeting that a dual-isotope SPECT/CT imaging method can allow for the differentiation between diabetic foot infection and a related foot condition called Charcot joint with a single scan. The process reduces the patient's diagnosis time and radiation amount by eliminating the need for second-day bone-marrow imaging.
