Mayo Clinic trial to use stem cells to treat infant heart defects

The Mayo Clinic has received federal approval for a trial that will use autologous umbilical cord stem cells to treat hypoplastic left heart syndrome. The trial will commence upon the enrollment of 10 eligible patients, who will undergo three repair surgeries.
