Study: FDG-PET outperforms MPI for early-stage CAD identification

PET imaging with 18F-FDG performed better than stress 99m tetrofosmin myocardial perfusion imaging in diagnosing coronary artery disease, especially single-vessel disease, according to findings presented at an imaging meeting. FDG-PET showed higher sensitivity and specificity in detecting stenosis of greater than 50%, researchers said.
