The Brazilian government has turned to biotech mosquitoes developed by British firm Oxitec to fight dengue fever. The male mosquitoes carry a lethal gene that kills them in a short amount of time. These mosquitoes are released into the wild to mate with female mosquitoes, allowing them to pass the lethal gene to their offspring.
