Etihad Airways Chief Executive James Hogan this week said the carrier is negotiating to buy a 49% stake in Alitalia. The Abu Dhabi airline already has stakes in Air Serbia, Air Seychelles, Air Berlin, Jet Airways, Virgin Australia and Aer Lingus. Hogan noted that Etihad is in the final stages of talks with Alitalia. He also said that Etihad’s geographic location has allowed it to create connectivity, which attracts both business and leisure travelers.
