World Elder Abuse Awareness Day aims to help protect seniors

Joan Abrams of the Northern California Geriatric Education Center says about 5 million elderly Americans are abused, neglected or exploited annually, and World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on Sunday is a time to showcase what can be a hidden public health problem. San Diego hosted a summit on aging this week, and law enforcement officials in Maryland warned that the elderly can be victims of scams.
