Feds seek to clarify employers' role in worker I.D. checks

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has proposed new regulations outlining the steps businesses need take if a worker's name and social security number don't match government records. Businesses who follow these rules would be granted a "safe harbor" -- and not face prosecution -- if it was later found that they had hired illegal immigrants.
