Insurance regulators support national catastrophe fund

Insurance regulators are encouraging lawmakers to come up with ways to help insurers, homeowners and states improve the way they handle severe storms and disasters. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners supports the creation of a a national catastrophe fund to backstop private insurers. Many companies are declining to renew homeowners' policies in coastal states.
