Older antifungal drugs as good as newer ones, study finds

A new study says none of a class of recent drugs for treating potentially deadly fungal infections work any better than older and cheaper drugs. When tests were conducted on drugs in the new class of echinocandins in comparison with the older fluconazoles, researchers found their effectiveness to be statistically about equal.
