Baldwin, ex-ambassador discuss DP benefits for federal workers

The Employment Non-Discrimination Act and a gay-inclusive hate-crimes bill have more chance of being enacted by Congress in the next session than bills aimed at reversing the marriage and military gay bans, according to out U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin. Her comments came during a panel discussion -- which also included U.S. Sen. Gordon Smith, R-Ore., former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and former U.S. Ambassador to Romania Michael Guest -- on a pending federal bill to offer gay federal workers equal benefits for their partners as those given to employees' spouses.
