Regulators must address commodity speculation, lawmakers say

Lawmakers in Washington are blaming financial speculators for high gas prices and volatile commodity markets and want regulators to act against speculation. The White House has endorsed a Senate proposal that would create an interagency task force to investigate commodity speculation. Meanwhile, Sen. Joseph Lieberman, I-Conn., is working on a proposal that would ban commodity speculation.
