European regulators scrutinise trading structures after "flash crash"

European regulators are asking questions about whether a market plunge similar to the 6 May "flash crash" of the Dow Jones industrial average could occur on a regional exchange. "In principle, a May 6-style crash could happen in Europe," said Christian Katz, CEO of SIX Swiss Exchange. The incident prompted the UK Financial Services Authority and other regulators to increase scrutiny of trading systems.
