The secret to speedy innovation? Spend less on R&D

Companies that reward their innovation teams too amply may actually be hindering their R&D efforts, according to new research. Teams that are given a cash incentive to solve a problem took significantly longer than teams who were simply asked to solve the problem quickly, researchers found. "These incentives often don't work, and in fact do harm," says Dan Pink.
