American Airlines plans to buy an off-the-shelf passenger services system rather than build one from scratch through HP Enterprise Systems. Maya Leibman of American Airlines says the carrier wondered "Did it really make sense to be building this system when we could potentially buy this system?" American canceled a deal with HP signed in 2009 as part of the carrier's restructuring.
