ATC furloughs, weather affected airlines' on-time performance in April

Airlines for America, the airlines trade group, cited government-imposed furloughs of air traffic controllers as a main cause for the reduction in airlines' April on-time performance. The Federal Aviation Administration furloughed approximately 10% of its air traffic controllers to help the agency address federal budget cuts. Congress pushed through a bill to end the furloughs after five days of complaints from passengers and airlines. Severe weather also contributed to the monthly results.
