Exposure to TV commercials linked to children's junk food intake

Regular home viewing of TV with commercials was associated with greater consumption of junk food among preschool children, U.S. researchers found. They noted that children who were exposed to TV commercials at home were more likely to have incorrect views on healthy eating, compared with peers who lived in households that viewed commercial-free, digitally recorded TV or other media free of food-related commercials. The findings will be presented at the International Communication Association meeting.
