NYC considers new construction standards for hospitals

New building codes are in the works for hospitals in New York City to help them be more resilient in the event of severe weather resulting from climate change, said Mayor Michael Bloomberg. The new requirements, some of which also apply to multifamily dwellings, deal with emergency power supplies, stormwater management, flooding mitigation and more, according to the city's report. New standards are slated to be submitted to the City Council this year.
