Solar plant in desert to generate a smooth flow of power

The Ivanpah solar thermal power plant in California's Mojave Desert turns its back on solar photovoltaic cells and instead relies on vast arrays of mirrors that will concentrate the sun's heat on Ivanpah's three towers. This will generate steam and then produce power in a more consistent fashion than PV, even for a time after the sun goes down.
