Gary Fayard, chief financial officer of Coca-Cola, told analysts that taxes on soft drinks would harm beverage-industry profits without achieving the stated goal of reducing consumption. "We're an easy target as an industry, and this is one where we're all going to have to pull together and work diligently because it's a threat," he said.
