Mexico port, Arizona rail could compete with Panama Canal

Planners envision a new Mexican port that would link to railways and highways in Arizona, delivering goods from abroad across the U.S. The port -- proposed for Punta Colonet in Baja California, Mexico -- would connect to new freight lines and move goods from China to New York via Arizona in just 19 days, versus 26 days via the Panama Canal and 20 days via West Coast ports.
