New generation of farmers adds sustainability, technology

While the average farmer in the U.S. is 57, a class of diverse, educated and younger farmers is eager to pick up the profession -- focusing on today's sustainable technologies. There are several educational and financial opportunities available to learn about sustainable practices and farming in general, including certifications in ecological horticulture and the Department of Agriculture's Farm Loan Program, which provides financial assistance to those who cannot get funding from traditional lenders.
