Tenn. district offers summer kits to prepare students for kindergarten

One Tennessee school district is distributing Kinder Kits -- which include flashcards, worksheets and other school supplies -- at school-registration events to give incoming kindergartners resources to use over the summer to help them meet higher academic standards this fall. Schools plan to track the academic progress of students who receive the kits to determine whether the project is effective at giving students an edge before they start school.
