Health care coverage may turn out to be unaffordable for many low-wage employees, including those at hotels, retail stores and big chain restaurants, because of a problematic Affordable Care Act provision that allows companies to offer expensive policies to low-wage workers in order to meet their legal obligations. "Some people may not gain the benefit of affordable employer coverage," Families USA Executive Director Ron Pollack said.
