Chobani leads the way as yogurt sales surge

Yogurt sales in the U.S. were nearly $6.1 billion in the 12 months ending in April 2013, and Chobani leads the way with more than $1 billion in annual sales. Founded by Turkish immigrant Hamdi Ulukaya, Chobani employs about 3,000 people globally and uses 40 million pounds of domestically produced milk per week at its upstate New York facility. "We never outsourced anything because I wanted to have control of the product from me to the customers," Ulukaya said.
