Bartenders and sommeliers don't tend to associate with one another in the restaurant community, but they have more in common than they think, writes Levi Dalton. Currently, the two crowds have more say than ever in the direction of a restaurant. "Both bartenders and sommeliers have increasingly had stakes in new venues, and that has brought to the fore a host of spots where pretension is low, but where the shared love for beverages is potent."
