Justice Department settles ADA case against R.I., Providence

The Justice Department settled an Americans with Disabilities Act case with Rhode Island and the city of Providence that alleged the rights of more than 200 people with disabilities were violated when they were segregated at a vocational school and employment program. The city and state agreed to assist students at the Harold H. Birch Vocational School in getting training for "real jobs" and to ensure that the Training Thru Placement program seeks out positions and services in typical workplaces alongside employees who do not have disabilities.
