RFA's Cooper: Ethanol saves American families money

The oil industry continues to spread lies that ethanol doesn't help reduce gasoline prices, writes Geoff Cooper, vice president of research and analysis at the Renewable Fuels Association. Studies and analyses by the federal government have found that without ethanol, American families would feel a much sharper increase in fuel prices, with some estimates as high as $1.09 more per gallon, he writes. Ethanol extends the U.S. fuel supply and costs less than other octane enhancers, and blends sell for less than unblended gasoline, he writes.
