Vanguard founder: Target-date funds not right for all investors

Target-date mutual funds might not be best for every investor, Vanguard founder John Bogle says, arguing that investors should look at their total retirement-income stream, including Social Security benefits. "The thinking with target-date funds is 'don't put yourself into a position of having to make judgments, because they are so often wrong,' but I think target-date funds have too narrow a mandate," he said.
