Sav-A-Lot keeps it simple

Supervalu's Sav-A-Lot subsidiary is nipping at the heels of some huge discount-chain competitors with their no-frills, small-format stores that stock only the most popular brands and sizes. Customers bag their own groceries, often using their own bags. A spokesman for the chain said it is growing by about 100 stores per year.
