CVS purchases 12,000 RFID-enabled card terminals

CVS purchased 12,000 radio frequency identification tag-enabled payment terminals from Hypercom Corporation. The terminals accept magnetic stripe cards, smart cards and contactless cards, which avoid swiping and signature requirements through embedded RFID tags that transmit consumers's account information over radio frequency waves.
