Los Angeles board mandates college prep courses

Yesterday, the Los Angeles Board of Education voted 6-1 to require all high school students, beginning with the class of 2008, to complete courses required to enter California universities. Starting with the class of 2012, all students, with some exceptions, will have to complete the courses to graduate. Critics fear the new program could lead more students to drop out.
