Functional foods not always all they claim to be

Functional foods, fortified with ingredients that promise to lower cholesterol, improve skin quality or boost digestive health, among other things, are a $30.7 billion industry that is expected to grow 40% over the next five years. But often a whole food provides more health benefits than processed food with added nutrients, experts say.
