Study points to benefits of combining coronary CTA, SPECT MPI

Swiss researchers combined coronary CT angiography with SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging, devising a hybrid cardiac imaging method that uses less radiation and has a shorter scanning time to detect coronary lesions in patients with suspected coronary artery disease. The hybrid method also "predicted the need for revascularization with a sensitivity and specificity of 100% and 96% [respectively] per patient," a co-author said.
