Boeing marks two milestones with 747-8

Boeing Co. says its 747-8 freighter has been deemed safe for test flights by FAA personnel, an important step in the certification process. Cargolux is scheduled to take delivery of the first 747-8F in the fourth quarter. Also on Monday, Boeing said it has begun assembling the fuselage of the 747-8 Intercontinental, the new passenger version of the venerable jumbo jet.
