Obama presses for clean-energy initiative in speech on oil spill

U.S. President Barack Obama used his speech on the Gulf of Mexico oil spill to call on Congress to support legislation that would reduce the country's dependence on the world's dwindling supply of oil. He said 90% of the oil gushing into the gulf will be removed within weeks. Obama appointed Michael Bromwich, a former Justice Department inspector general, to head an overhaul of the way the Interior Department regulates offshore oil drilling.
