RIM dips into a bag of tricks to fight touch-screen rivals

Research in Motion is testing several touch-screen products -- including a tablet and a smartphone with a slide-out keyboard -- as well as new BlackBerry software with iPhone-like features, according to a published report, which points to RIM's North American market-share decline as the impetus for the moves. Executives said only that RIM would ship new versions of its browser and operating system by Sept. 30.
