U.S. homebuyers might get extra time to obtain tax credit

U.S. senators are working on a bill that would give homebuyers extra time to close on their purchase and avoid losing a federal tax credit. The June 30 deadline for completing a transaction would be changed to Sept. 30. The change would apply only to buyers who already have a property under contract.
