Feds spread immigration audits to 1,000 businesses nationwide

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency has notified about 1,000 more businesses of all sizes that it plans to inspect their hiring records as part of a crackdown on employing undocumented workers. The new round of audits affects companies in several industries including quickservice restaurants and produce growers. Audits at Chipotle restaurants in Minnesota, Virginia and Washington, D.C., within the past year led the company to let go of hundreds of workers.
