Tennessee hospitals upgrade to digital X-rays

Hospitals in Tennessee increasingly are going digital for their X-ray imaging, and the shift is allowing for on-the-spot decisions, rather than lengthy waits for film processing. The two largest hospital systems in Middle Tennessee, HCA's TriStar Health System and Saint Thomas Health Services, plan to install the Picture Archiving and Storage System at a cost of at least $1 million per hospital. The Vanderbilt University Medical Center has been using the system for two years.
