Voluntary COOL plan introduced in Congress

The chairman and ranking member of the House Agriculture Committee yesterday introduced a bill to make country of origin labeling rules voluntary. The measure, supported by a coalition of food industry groups including the Food Marketing Institute, is intended to replace a mandatory program that was originally set to begin this fall.
