FDA weighs definition of "excellent source"

General Mills is petitioning the FDA to define an "excellent source" of whole grains as 16 grams or more per serving, but opponents contend if the definition is adopted, it will favor cereals and crackers. "If we set the bar too high, we will have less ability to tell the public about whole grains," a Sara Lee official said.
