Senate approves new FDIC chief, three additional nominees

The Senate voted yesterday to approve Bush nominee Sheila Bair to head the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Senators also approved James B. Lockhart as director of the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight; Kathleen Casey as a member of the Securities and Exchange Commission; and Robert Couch as president of the Government National Mortgage Association.
