Federal court to weigh in on Arizona immigration law

A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is considering the legality of Arizona's tough new immigration law, which allows the state to revoke the business license of employers who hire illegal immigrants. "The central issue is whether every state and locality can enact its own laws (on hiring), thereby balkanizing our immigration laws and dramatically increasing the burden on employers," an attorney told the judges during oral arguments on Thursday.
