When Andy Baird took his first ride in a hot-air balloon at age 13, he was hooked. In college, he interned for Cameron Balloons, a manufacturer based in Dexter, Mich., and eventually he bought the company. Baird and his employees hand-craft about 50 balloons annually, including special shapes ranging from Mickey Mouse to hamburgers. Baird says he derives "huge satisfaction" from watching his creations soar into the air, and he's never lost the thrill of flying.
