Out White House official reiterates support for LGBT rights

The Senate could take action on a hate crimes measure inclusive of LGBT people this week, John Berry, the top-ranking LGBT official in the Obama White House, said in remarks at the Capital Pride Festival in Washington, D.C. Berry, in an interview with The Advocate, also sought to counter concerns that the Obama administration's effort to support the Defense of Marriage Act in court is a sign that it's backing down on its commitment to LGBT rights.
