European nations face pressure to publish results of stress tests

The Bank of Spain decided to disclose results of stress tests on the country's banks. Germany is aiming to make disclosure happen at the EU level. Yves Mersch, a member of the European Central Bank Governing Council, said publishing results could improve confidence in the eurozone banking system. The moves are putting additional pressure on European countries to follow Spain's lead. Meanwhile, Lorenzo Bini Smaghi, a member of the European Central Bank Executive Board, said results of stress tests of individual banks will be released publicly.
