Illinois district is still undecided on out-of-district placements

Education officials in one Illinois school district are considering reversing a recent decision to deny out-of-district placement for two students in special education. The officials are also grappling with whether it is more cost-effective to educate students with special needs in local schools. The district has not been reimbursed by the state for $4.3 million in costs for out-of-district special-education placements during the 2009-10 school year.
